Family Dentist in Eugene, OR
In Eugene, Oregon, family dentist Dr. Ari Binder provides general dentistry to patients of all ages. From professional cleanings and gum care, to tooth extractions, to preventive aids such as sealants and mouth guards, our services will help keep your smile healthy for years to come.
Regular cleanings twice a year will help keep your teeth and gums healthy. One of our dental hygienists will remove tartar, plaque, and stains on your teeth to improve their appearance and help prevent periodontal disease. Your hygienist will also give you a fluoride treatment and take any necessary X-rays.
After your cleaning, Dr. Binder will evaluate the health of your teeth and gums and recommend treatment for any issues he might observe, such as tooth or root decay, gum disease, or oral cancer.
Periodontal disease, commonly known as gum disease, is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It occurs when harmful bacteria infect the gums and create gaps around the teeth.
Periodontitis is one of the most common types of gum disease. Without treatment, it will get worse over time. However, periodontitis can be halted with early detection and treatment.
If you are diagnosed with periodontal disease, one of our dental hygienists will perform a deep cleaning of plaque and tartar on your teeth, going below the gum line to the root (called root scaling and planing). To keep the disease under control, you should have regular periodontal maintenance treatments. It may be necessary to have this cleaning done up to four times per year to reduce inflammation and bleeding of your gums.
Sealants are a common treatment to help prevent tooth decay. The earlier you get them, the better. That’s why Dr. Binder typically recommends sealants for children as soon as their first and second molars (the large teeth at the back of your mouth) come in.
Molars are the teeth most often used for chewing, and with their deep grooves, they are most susceptible to cavities. Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating that forms a protective layer over the grooves of your molars, sealing them to prevent plaque from developing. The procedure is quick and completely painless.
Mouth guards are commonly used to protect your teeth from sports injuries and to treat tooth grinding (bruxism) and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, which can cause jaw pain, clicking and popping, difficulty and pain when opening the mouth, and other jaw problems.
After taking an impression of your teeth, Dr. Binder customizes your mouth guard so that it fits your bite pattern perfectly.
For a whiter, brighter smile, Dr. Binder offers custom-made tooth whitening trays that mold perfectly to your teeth. You will take home your customized trays and whitening gel to wear for a specified amount of time. The whitening gel we offer contains carbamide peroxide. It is more highly concentrated than an over-the-counter product and yields improved results in less time.
At 360 Dental, we understand that dental procedures often cause anxiety and fear for patients – no matter how young or old you may be. We offer sedation dentistry using nitrous oxide to help our patients relax so you can get the dental treatments you need.
Nitrous oxide, a gas you breathe in through a mask, simply helps you feel calm and comfortable while in the dental chair. You will not go to sleep; you will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions Dr. Binder may have. Whether you need a simple cleaning or a more complex procedure such as an extraction, nitrous oxide may be a good option for you.
Dr. Binder provides oral surgery for wisdom teeth removal as well as extractions for decayed, broken, or damaged teeth. Dr. Binder takes a conservative approach to surgery, only utilizing it when absolutely necessary, such as in cases where wisdom teeth have become impacted or erupt at an unusual angle. If you are anxious about the procedure, Dr. Binder may use sedation with nitrous oxide to help you relax.
